Green AWD Terror

Check out this one tearing up the drag strip at the Buschur Racing DSM/EVO Shootout. Green. AWD. Fast. I’ve been in this car. Like most AWD cars with an absurd amount of horsepower, it does what I call the AWD dance. All four wheels are kind of pulling the car in each direction and it wants to jump around on the road during launch. Much fun.

E36 M3 at IDRC

The IDRC event at Norwalk Raceway Park wasn’t just a drag racing event. Competitors ran autocross and drag races. Performance in both events resulted in final standings. Here’s an E36 M3 during the autocross portion. This car had a big secret under the hood.

Race Event Coverage

I’m not huge on New Years Resolutions. So, while promising myself to share more personal work and make use of my blog appears to be timed well with the new year, it’s really just a matter of having a few weeks of downtime over the holidays to get some stuff cleaned up and organized. With that said… I’ll try to toss up a few photos here and there, each week, of the random events I hit. I’ll start with the old stuff. Today, here are a few photos from the IDRC 2012 at Norwalk Raceway Park.

SNCC Cross Country Race, Summersville, WV

In the Spring, when weeks upon weeks of rain make the ground muddy and sloppy, you’re guaranteed some messy and slippery cross country dirt bike races. Until summer, the lack of leaves on the trees in these forests that are the home of the races in West Virginia create a stark contrast next to bright colored graphics and flashy riding gear; until they’re all covered in mud. Here are a few shots from an SNCC race last year in Summersville, WV.

Mountain Bikes at Big Bear Lake

The rolling hills and mountains of West Virginia aren’t just for dirt bikes. In June I was at Big Bear Lake near Bruceton Mills, WV for the WVMBA 2×12 and there was no echo of B-R-A-A-P to be heard. This race was for die hard mountain bike racers. I hiked most of the 12 mile loop backwards after leaving the hill in which the riders climbed right at the start. It was a very hot and muggy June day and even in the shade of the forest at Big Bear Lake, the humidity had my dew rag soaked and sweat was burning my eyes. You can only imagine what the racers were dealing with. Check out some of the shots below. Serious devotion these riders have.

Jack Pine Enduro 2011

Back in July, I had the chance to travel with some friends to Moorestown, MI. Loaded up with two race-ready dirt bikes, tools, riding gear, and a few camera bags, we left the mountains of West Virginia to this relatively flat area of Michigan.  Coming from WV and hiking mile upon mile of hills and mountains to shoot cross country style racing, this seemed to be a foreign planet. Complete with a course that required using the truck to get to different shooting spots, tons of sand in place of the usual mud and clay, and the sheer length of the enduro style race, it was fun day of making photos. It’s the Jack Pine Enduro and here are a few shots from the trip.
